On Earth Day, April 22, 2008, Kirkland Fine Arts Center & WUIS Public Radio hosted a community dialogue about the current and future state of Central Illinois waterways and the increasing struggle for quantity and quality in communities Decatur and Springfield. Special guest John Cronin was joined on stage by local and state waterway officials for a panel discussion moderated by Rich Bradley. You can listen to the discussion, along with other water related stories at www.wuis.org. This event is partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council.

Kirkland Fine Arts Center has partnered with Starbucks Coffee on Mound Road and local community arts organizations to present Open Arts Discussions. These discussions provide an open dialogue among the Decatur community about how the fine arts can better serve our region. The 2007-2008 Season discussions have ended, but check back soon for a schedule of 2008-2009 meetings revolving around the topic "Arts in Education" !

The Department of Theatre and Dance cordially invites you to attend Curtain Talks, a series of informal discussions immediately following the Friday night performance of each mainstage production. Cast, crew, designers and directors will gather in the theatre after curtain and discuss YOUR reactions, insights, and questions. Theatre is nottheatre without an audience. Without you, we are just talking to ourselves. We want and need to hear what you have to say!

There are currently no upcoming Curtain Talks. Please check back for a listing of the 2008-2009 Season.

Please join us. It will not be the same without you. If you attended a show a different evening and would still like to respond, e-mail us at kirkout@millikin.edu.

Kirkland is proud to showcase Millikin Alumni Artists on their new Alumni Arts Wall located on the South end of the Kirkland lobby. Pieces by Alumni will be showcased for several months before moving to downtown Decatur for presentation in Millikin’s Blue Connection Art Gallery. All pieces displayed will be available for purchase through the Blue Connection’s website at www.millikiblueconnection.com during the showcase. Jami Wong (’01) and her husband Vitus Wong (’00) opened the showcase on February 4, 2008. Angela Mircsov continues the showcase with a display through the end of May. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the work will benefit the Millikin Art Department. If you are interested in learning more about having your own work displayed, e-mail kirkout@millikin.edu.
